National Academy Of Sciences Honors 2
Two Washington State University professors have been named members of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences.
Biochemists Linda Randall and Rodney Croteau will join the group of influential U.S. researchers often called on to advise the federal government on science and technology issues.
Randall’s studies of protein formation are considered key for solving diseases caused by improperly formed proteins - such as mad cow disease. Croteau’s studies include examination of defense chemicals in trees. He is currently working on ways to speed the yew tree’s production of taxol, a cancer-fighting compound.
