First Lady Invited To Murray Event

First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton has been invited to a fund-raiser here for Sen. Patty Murray and Murray says chances are good that she will attend.

“We have heard from the White House that the prospects are very good, but the first lady’s schedule is never set in stone until the week prior,” Murray said Wednesday.

The invitation is for the Washington Democrat’s annual “Golden Tennis Shoe Awards” on June 23. Murray first ran for public office as “a mom in tennis shoes,” and the slogan became her trademark. She has used the awards to raise money and to recognize women activists who have made a difference in the community.

Murray is up for re-election next year.
