City Police Seeking Reserve Officers

The Spokane Police Department is seeking volunteers for its reserve officer program.

Reserves, who are supervised by full-time officers, are authorized to carry guns and make arrests while on duty. The department provides training and uniforms for free.

Interested men and women can apply at an orientation meeting today at City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The 7 p.m. meeting will be held in the City Council chambers.

Applicants must complete 256 hours of training between Sept. 8 and Dec. 17.

The selection process also includes a criminal background check, polygraph examination, physical exam and psychological test. Interested people must by 21 years old by the time they graduate from the program.
