Jail And Public Safety Building Brace For Threat

From Staff And Wire Reports

Security at the Spokane County Jail and neighboring Public Safety Building has been increased due to a threat directed at the buildings, sheriff’s officials said.

The tightened security began a week ago, said sheriff’s spokesman Dave Reagan. He refused to reveal specifics about the threat.

“Security will continue to be increased until we feel the threat has passed,” he said. “It’s a difficult balancing act when you’ve got a public building involved. But we felt increased security was necessary.”

As an added precaution, some entrances to the buildings are being blocked by law enforcement vehicles.
