Post Office Food Drive To Be Held Saturday

From Staff And Wire Reports

The biggest one-day food drive in the nation takes place Saturday with the post office’s annual collection.

To donate nonperishable items, put them in plastic bags near your mailbox, and a volunteer will pick them up.

The food will go to local food banks and be distributed through social service agencies.

Last year, Spokane letter carriers received more than 200,000 pounds of food. Nationwide, post office employees collected about 45 million pounds of nonperishable items.
