Poachers need harsher penalties
Through the years, animal populations have decreased dramatically. Mainly because some humans are stupid. These animals are mostly hunted, for what, a mere trophy hanging on the wall or a fur coat for somebody? If humans don’t make more changes, most animals will be extinct.
From watching and listening to people, quite a few hunt illegally. These people are the ones who cheat by using nightscopes. Hunting must be too hard for them legally.
The law that bans hunting cougars with hounds was way overdue. People can’t call that hunting, when the hunter just shoots a frightened cougar in the head after the hounds have treed it. Because of hunting like this and poaching, animals can’t survive.
In the future, the government is going to need harsher penalties for people who get caught hunting illegally. By having harsher penalties, hopefully people will wake up and stop practicing the poaching methods they’ve used all their life. If harsher penalties aren’t established, most animals are going to die out. Scientists can’t clone every animal to keep it on the face of the earth.
People just need to realize how important animal’s lives really are. Geoffrey S. Bell Cheney
Rodman needs to be toned down
I think Dennis Rodman is one of the best players in the National Basketball Association. Like all good players, he is a role model for kids. If all the kids who want to play sports turn into a freak like him, just think what our society would be like in 10 years.
Twenty years ago, players who were wild would not be allowed to play. If there were players who acted wild in the NBA 20 years ago they would get bad press. Now the people eat up the things he does, the way he acts, and what he wears. The NBA loves the publicity and the money he brings in.
I think he should be asked to calm down a little. If he doesn’t, he should be suspended until he does. Chase Distefano, 14 Spokane
