TV Transmitter Knocked Out
It may be this afternoon before service is restored to public television viewers in areas from Coeur d’Alene north.
The KCDT transmitter on Canfield Butte went out about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to Idaho Public Television officials.
Engineer Ted Poe worked throughout the afternoon to trace and try to correct the problem.
“The final tube shorted out, and that’s what apparently took out the power supply,” interim station manager Ken Segota said Thursday.
That, in turn, damaged other parts, all of which require replacement, he said. New tubes have been ordered and could be installed as early as this morning. , DataTimes
