CV Pleased As School Bid Comes In Under Budget
Central Valley School District officials turned cartwheels on Monday. At least, figuratively they did.
The celebration stemmed from the fact that the low bid for the new Liberty Lake Elementary School came in a good $400,000 under budget.
Hoffman Contractors, a Spokane Valley firm, bid $5,940,200 for the 24-classroom project. The district had budgeted $6,375,000 for construction.
“We received what we feel is a very good bid,” said CV Superintendent Wally Stanley.
Eight firms submitted bids.
Next Monday, the officials will turn the first shovelful of dirt for the school, which is due to be completed by September 1988.
The school is expected to eventually enroll about 600 students.
The Hoffman bid includes 11 alternative options. Those include brick facing on the outside walls, rather than masonry; more cabinets in classrooms and offices; more kitchen equipment and more stage equipment and lighting.
