Commission Issues Memorial Day Advice
The Washington Parks and Recreation Commission offers these tips for campers during the Memorial Day weekend:
Reserve campsites, if you can. Most state parks are booked for Friday and Saturday nights of the Memorial Day weekend.
But as of Thursday, there were still campsites available at Curlew Lake, 10 miles northeast of Republic; Dash Point in Federal Way; Paradise Point, 6 miles south of Woodland; Riverside in Spokane; and Lake Wenatchee in Chelan County.
Consider camping at a park that doesn’t require a reservation. There are 35 state parks that offer campsites on a first-come, firstserve basis. For a listing of those parks, call (800) 233-0321.
Think ahead to summer. Campsites can be reserved up to 11 months in advance. Start planning for the Fourth of July weekend by calling (800) 452-5687.
