Suspect Arrested After Two Car Chases
A man led police on two chases in two different vehicles Friday evening before being arrested.
David M. Frank, 31, was booked into jail on charges of attempting to elude police, second-degree theft of a van and first-degree robbery of a car.
The first chase began when police spotted a stolen van, said Lt. Al Odenthal. The driver fit the description of a suspicious person seen walking in the 3800 blocks of East Fifth and East Second avenues, Odenthal said.
Police said the man left the van at the intersection of Sprague and Freya during the chase, ran into the parking lot of the Washington Trust Bank, pulled a gun on a couple, and took the woman’s blue Pontiac.
Police chased the man again and finally captured him on North Freya after the car became high-centered in the uneven terrain in a commercial business area.
No one was injured during the carjacking.
Frank told police he just moved to Spokane from Montana. Police are trying to determine if there are any outstanding arrest warrants for Frank in Montana, Odenthal said. , DataTimes
