Missing Oregon Girl Found Safe In Wisconsin

Authorities found a missing 12-year-old Eastern Oregon girl and arrested her second cousin in Wisconsin on Sunday after stopping him for a routine traffic violation.

Shane M. Pickle, 23, of Prairie City was arrested in DeForest, Wis., Grant County District Attorney Edward Holpuch said. DeForest is about 15 miles north of Madison, Wis.

The girl, missing since May 5 from her home in Canyonville, was in the pickup with Pickle when he was arrested, he said. She was placed in protective custody with Wisconsin juvenile authorities.

Pickle was being held in the Dane County Jail in Madison on an Oregon warrant charging first-degree custodial interference and carrying a concealed weapon, Holpuch said. Federal charges of transporting a minor across state lines may be added, he said.
