Couple Gets Toddler Who Survived Standoff
A Texas toddler whose father kidnapped him and then committed suicide in Spokane has a new home.
A judge in New Braunfels, Texas, ruled Wednesday that a couple in Austin should have temporary custody of 19-month-old Dylan Miller, their nephew.
Kevin Miller, 31, abducted his son May 15 and shot his estranged common-law wife, Alison Kennedy, in the head in a custody dispute. Kennedy is recovering in an Austin hospital.
Miller turned up four days later in Spokane and shot himself in the head during a standoff with police. Dylan wasn’t hurt.
Miller also was suspected in the May 2 shooting death of Kennedy’s mother, Karen, in San Antonio.
Dylan will stay with Katie and James Cape of Austin, who have two daughters.
