Labor Supports Proposed Stadium

Associated Press

The Washington State Labor Council threw its weight behind the proposed new Seattle Seahawks stadium Thursday, saying it will provide hundreds of good-paying jobs for skilled craftspeople.

“This is so important to the city of Seattle and our state as a whole for family wage jobs as well as permanent jobs,” council Pesident Rick Bender said. “It’s an incredible asset to keep the Seahawks in our state.”

Bender estimated the project would provide 200 to 300 jobs for skilled workers, ranging from carpenters and iron workers to cement finishers and electricians.

“Almost all the trades will be involved,” he said.
