Ridden by Alex Solis, Ryafan took the lead early in the stretch after front-running Dance Design was bumped and went on to win Santa Anita’s $500,000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes for fillies and mares at Arcadia, Calif., by 1-1/4 lengths.

Fanjica finished second, followed by 19-10 favorite Memories Of Silver, with Dance Design seventh.

Twice The Vice, considered one of the favorites in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Distaff, has been retired after a stress fracture was discovered in her left cannon bone at Santa Anita.
