Coalition To Explain Mining Ailments Plan
The People’s Action Coalition will explain its lead health project to Silver Valley residents at 6 p.m. today in Kellogg.
The meeting will be held in office No. 8 of the Cameron Mall, 120 W. Cameron St..
Barbara Miller, director of the grassroots organization, calls the project a “comprehensive medical treatment plan for all people hurt by mining pollution.”
With a blueprint for the project in hand, the coalition is seeking funding. Plans include opening a clinic.
Among those present will be lead poisoning expert Dr. John Rosen, a pediatrics professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.
Representatives of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry also will be present, Miller said. The federal agency wants to conduct another study of the effects of metal pollution at site of the former Bunker Hill smelter. , DataTimes
