Man Robs Cabdriver At Knifepoint

From Staff And Wire Reports

A man held a knife to a cabdriver’s throat and robbed him before dawn Thursday, Spokane police said.

The victim suffered a small cut.

The driver told police the incident began about 4 a.m. when he picked up two men at Monroe and Shannon. They asked to go to Addison and Francis, and the driver took them there.

Once there, the men asked to go to another location, the cabby said. At that point, one of the men put a knife to the driver’s throat and demanded money, police said.

The bandits then ran from the cab into a nearby parking complex. Police searched the area but found no suspects.

The victim said one of the robbers was white and the other was black.

The white man was described as about 22 years old and 6 feet 3 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, his long blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail and he was wearing a blue military coat and blue sweat pants, the cabby said.

The black man was described as being in his 20s, about 6 feet 5 and weighing 280 pounds. He had a mustache and was wearing a red Windbreaker-style jacket and light blue baggy pants.
