Sunset Junction Worker Has Hepatitis; Shots Urged
The Spokane Regional Health District is alerting residents that a food service worker at Sunset Junction, 1801 W. Sunset Blvd., has hepatitis A.
It is recommended that anyone who ate or drank at the restaurant between Oct. 24 and Nov. 5 be immunized, district officials said.
To be effective, immunization must be received no later than 14 days after exposure, officials said.
Immune globulin shots will be offered at the health district clinic, 1101 W. College, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today and Nov. 14 and from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.
The cost ranges from $19 to $30 for both adults and children.
Hepatitis A is spread by eating contaminated food. After a two- to six-week incubation period with no symptoms, an infected person may feel sick and suffer joint and muscle aches, cramps with stomach pain and tenderness, loss of appetite, fever, nausea and diarrhea, officials said.
