As expected, Chargers coach Kevin Gilbride named third-year pro Craig Whelihan as the starting quarterback for Sunday’s home game against the Seattle Seahawks.

St. Louis Rams tackle Orlando Pace, the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, will be out for one to three weeks with an injury to his right knee.

A fill-in clock operator has been fired by the NFL after fouling up the final 56 seconds of regulation time in Denver’s 23-20 overtime victory over Buffalo on Oct. 26.
