Dutton Bombs Boise For 557 Yards
Nevada’s John Dutton riddled Boise State’s defense for a school-record 557 yards and five passing touchdowns Saturday as the Wolf Pack captured a 56-42 Big West Conference football victory in a wild offensive battle at Boise, Idaho.
Nevada won its fourth straight Big West game and will host Utah State next week in a game to decide the championship. Dutton, Big West offensive player of the year last season, hit Trevor Insley with an 82-yard scoring pass on the game’s first play and never let up. By halftime he had 408 passing yards and four touchdown passes.
Besides the passing record, Dutton also set a single-game total offense record with 568 yards. Mike Maxwell had set both records (552 passing and 543 total) in 1995.
