Quarterback Akili Smith and linebacker Peter Sirmon of Oregon and punt returner Shawn Tims of Washington State on Monday were named Pac-10 players of the week.

Smith, a junior from San Diego, completed 15 of 25 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns as Oregon upset Washington 31-28. Sirmon, a sophomore from Walla Walla had 15 tackles, nine unassisted, and also recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass.

Tims, a senior from Vallejo, Calif., returned five punts for 167 yards and also had two receptions for 55 yards as Washington State beat Southwest Louisiana 77-7.
