T-Wolves Run Past Borah

Lindsay Herbert, Laura Dodge and Alison Asher each scored 10 points as Lake City opened its girls basketball season with a 52-33 non-league win Friday over Borah in Boise.

Asher topped the Timberwolves with eight rebounds, while Kelly had four steals.

Borah’s Eden Bates hit 6 of 12 shots from the field and finished with a game-high 15 points.

Boise buried nine 3-pointers en route to a non-league win over the visiting Vikings.

Krissi Ruiz led the Vikings with 13 points, while Patty Stranger scored 11. Katie Shirley had six rebounds, three blocks and four assists.

Amber Paulson scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Badgers to a non-league win over the Bulldogs.

Boys soccer

Dan Dhillon and Whit Spencer scored second-half goals to lead St. George’s to a 2-0 victory over Wahluke at Kennewick in the first round of the State B playoffs.

Girls volleyball

Colville won all three of its matches during the first day of the State 2A tournament at St. Martin’s College in Lacey, Wash.

The Indians knocked off Yakima’s East Valley 15-2, 15-10 in the first round and followed with a 15-3, 15-3 victory over Foster and a 19-17, 17-15 win over Meridian.

Newport went 2-1 on the day. After dropping their opener to Black Hills 15-7, 15-7, the Grizzlies rallied for wins over Grandview (15-9, 14-16, 15-12) and Eatonville (15-13, 15-1).

Pullman lost three straight matches.
