Tour Singapore While Waiting For Flight

Travelers passing through Singapore’s Changi Airport can now take free tours of the bustling Asian city-state.

The tours are available for passengers on any airline who have a layover of four hours or more.

They are sponsored by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board and Singapore Airlines.

One tour, Spirit of New Asia, covers the city center and financial district.

Visitors see downtown, take a boat ride on the Singapore River and also pass through one of the city’s Chinese neighborhoods before returning to the airport. Tours leave at 1 p.m. and hourly from 3 to 7 p.m.

The second tour, Heartlands of New Asia, takes in outlying fishing and beach areas.

Tourists see colonial British mansions and a new satellite town that has won international design awards.

The tour also includes stops at a museum and a Taoist temple. Tours leave at 10 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m.
