Students in grades K-12 are invited to enter the NewsCurrents Student Editorial Cartoon Contest. First- through third-place winners in three divisions will receive U.S. Saving Bonds.

Padgett Business Services is offering a $500 scholarship to high school seniors who are the children of local independent business owners. For an application and details call 838-8575. The deadline to apply is March 1. Regional winners will compete for a $4000 grand prize scholarship.

Bridging the GAP is the local outgrowth of a national summit designed to encourage communities to find ways to ensure young people have the skills, resources and support they need to be successful in life.
