Corrections Workers Voting On Union
Washington’s Department of Corrections workers will vote whether to keep their current union, affiliate with a new one or drop representation altogether.
This week the Washington State Department of Personnel mailed ballots to 3,900 DOC employees, including guards, maintenance workers and food servers - among them 450 workers at Airway Heights.
The DOC employees are voting to be represented by either their current union, the Washington Public Employees Association, or the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. They can also choose not to be represented by a union.
Ballots were mailed this week and are due back to the state department of personnel Dec. 12 for counting Dec. 15.
