Taxi Driver Hurt When Cab Hit By Pickup
FROM FOR THE RECORD (Monday, November 24, 1997): Correction Injuries incorrect: A cab driver who was hurt in a car accident early Saturday is in satisfactory condition at an area hospital after suffering various injuries none of them life-threatening. A Sunday story incorrectly reported his injuries.
A taxi driver was thrown from his cab Saturday after it was broadsided by a pickup running a red light at Mission and Washington, police said.
The 51-year-old victim suffered “various life-threatening injuries,” police spokesman Dick Cottam said. His name was withheld.
The other driver, Chad D. Hilderbrandt, 19, of Colville, was arrested on two counts of vehicular assault.
Hilderbrandt’s passenger, a 20-year-old woman, suffered facial injuries, police said.
The pickup was heading east on Mission at 12:20 a.m. when it ran the light, smashing into the cab, southbound on Washington, police said.
