Baylor Hands Ewu First Defeat
Brian Skinner scored 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked a school-record 10 shots to help rally Baylor to a 67-51 college basketball win over Eastern Washington on Saturday.
Baylor (2-2) dealt the Eagles (3-1) their first loss of the season after they got off to their first 3-0 start since 1985-86.
Despite trying to end a two-game losing streak, the Bears shot just 34 percent in the first half and trailed 32-27 at halftime.
But Skinner, who was held to five first-half points, connected on eight of 11 shots in the second half to spark Baylor’s comeback. He had nine blocks after intermission.
Eastern Washington took a seven-point lead - its largest of the game - when Shannon Taylor, who finished with 23 points, made two free throws with 17:44 left for a 36-29 advantage.
But the Eagles connected on just two field goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half, shooting just 21 percent over the period.
