Multichurch Missions Conference Will Begin Friday

Four West Plains churches are coming together to host a missions conference this weekend.

Cheney Community Church, Four Lakes Community Church, Hayford Community Church and Airway Evangelical Free Church in Airway Heights will all participate.

“In the Missions Drama, What’s YOUR Role?” is the theme of the conference, which will begin Friday at 6 p.m. with a potluck dinner at Hayford Community Church, 5306 S. Hayford Road.

Missionaries from around the world who are participating in the conference will be introduced at the dinner.

Represented will be several mission agencies, including Evangelical Free Missions, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, New Tribes Missions, Overseas Missionary Fellowship, and the United Indian Missions.

The conference will continue with a variety of workshops on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Cheney Community Church, 1307 Third St. On Sunday, each church will host one or two of the featured missionaries for their morning Sunday school and worship times.

Family ministry director named

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 4320 S. Conklin, has hired Caitlin May as its new director of youth and family ministry.

May, a 1996 graduate of Concordia University in Portland, has spent the past year as an intern at Beautiful Savior. May will deal with all aspects of youth ministry, including working with the church’s three youth groups, teaching Sunday school classes, and leading weekly chapel services for children enrolled in the church’s day care.

Pets will be blessed

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th, will hold a special pet-blessing ceremony at 4 p.m. Saturday in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry, will offer its animal-blessing service at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Fund-raising sales scheduled

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry, will host a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and next Thursday.

Heritage Congregational Church, 1801 E. 29th, will host a rummage and bake sale from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The sale will feature baby and infant clothes and household items.

Liberty Park United Methodist Church will hold a garage sale Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located at 1526 E. 11th.
