You Make The Call

A selection of comments from fans calling our “You Make the Call” hotline:

Step up Johnson, Griffey

“Mr. Johnson should know when he doesn’t have his good stuff and he should pull himself out of those games. Not wait for Lou to have to do it because he knows better. It’s a real sad situation when he obviously doesn’t have it, but he still tries to gut it.

“As far as Mr. Griffey goes, well, geez, Mr. 0-for-whatever-he-was-tonight ought to be thinking a little better than that if a ring is so important. If this third-rate Seattle organization stands behind him and is looking to him to be the leader for a World Series championship, I think Mr. Ofer ought to step up.” Dave Moore Greenacres

Don’t give up on Mariners

“One game does not mean the end of the world, so before everyone decides to jump ship, just remember there are four games left to be played in the series. Seattle Mariners will rebound, so watch out Baltimore.” Jay Stookey Pullman

Blowers should sit

“I think Piniella shouldn’t be starting Blowers. They say he has more experience, but right now I would go with the player who is doing better, which would be either Andy Sheets or Brent Gates. He’s coming back now from a rib injury and as we know from last year - what happened to Edgar - rib injuries don’t heal fast. So Blowers, I think, is still bugged by that and therefore is not the best third baseman for the Mariners.” Vicki Rabey Spokane
