High school students are needed to volunteer at the Family-a-Fair event Oct. 17 and 18 at the Spokane Convention Center.

Students can help set up (and chow down on pizza) on Oct. 17 from 3 to 7 p.m. Or you can work any of the two-hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 handing out programs, dressing up in costumes, helping with children’s crafts and other duties. Those who volunteer on Saturday get free T-shirts.

For more information or to sign up, call 456-3733.

Earn college credit by taking an Eastern Washington University class offered on TV.

EWU is offering general psychology this fall, sociology in the winter and anthropology in the spring to high school juniors and seniors through the STEP/Star television network.

Cost is $445 per student per course. For more information, call (800) 545-5008. To see the STEP/Star network visit www.esdtcom.wednet.edu on the Internet.

There’s still time to register for the Lycos CyberSufari ‘97 online treasure hunt.

The month-long competition kicks off Oct. 21. The contest is designed to give computer users a fun way to learn how to navigate the Internet.

More than $100,000 in cash and software prizes as well as T-shirts will be given out.

Individuals, families and school teams can enter. To register go to www.spa.org/cybersufari on the Internet. Registration is open right up to the start of the contest.

Speaking of the Internet… Design a Web page for EWU’s high school arts page and win a $500 scholarship.

Designs are due Dec. 1. For details call Richard Twedt at 359-7070.
