Barnes & Noble, Microsoft Reach Deal

Barnes & Noble Inc. said Monday it signed an agreement with software giant Microsoft Corp. to make BarnesandNoble.com the exclusive online bookseller within Microsoft World Wide Web sites.

BarnesandNoble.com is Barnes & Noble’s online bookseller unit.

The Internet sites include MSNBC, a cable channel; Microsoft Investor, a financial investment tracker; and Microsoft Expedia, a travel-planning service.

Barnes & Noble, a New York bookstore chain, said the long-term deal includes revenue sharing from transactions and joint marketing programs, Dow Jones News Service reported.
