Cda To Discuss Cutting Animal Stays
The Coeur d’Alene City Council will decide at its 7 p.m. City Hall meeting tonight whether to cut the number of days stray pets stay at the Kootenai Humane Society shelter from five to two.
The city ended its contract with the humane society last month, but still will house its strays at the shelter for $10 a day.
Until the contract ended, the shelter kept strays from the city for five days before putting them up for adoption or euthanizing them.
“Not very many people come in within 48 hours to claim their pets,” said Pete Nikiforuk, shelter director.
