Ailing Airline Receives Cash To Keep Flying
Bankrupt Western Pacific Airlines got a much-needed $2.8 million infusion Tuesday, enabling it to stay in the air at least a few more days while it tries to find a deep-pocket investor.
U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Sidney Brooks in Denver cleared the way for WestPac to get its money, which had been tied up by its two biggest financial backers.
GFI Co. and Hunt Petroleum Co. - had guaranteed a $10 million loan to WestPac from Bank One Texas.
The firms opposed WestPac’s request to withdraw $2.8 million from the airline’s receivables account, in which WestPac puts money owed for ticket purchases.
