Free Carnival Will Promote Healthy Living In/Around: East Central
Healthy living will be the focus of a free family carnival in the East Central Neighborhood on Saturday.
The Total Health Center Natural Grocery & Cafe is sponsoring the back-to-school event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in its parking lot at Fifth and Thor.
Store owner Tamy Roloff said she is putting up a large tent in case of rain.
The health food store will put out a range of natural and organic food samples.
Some of the store’s wholesale suppliers will be on hand to talk about their products.
Stir-fry with tofu, rice pudding, organic cookies and hummus bean spread are some of the many foods that can be tasted, Roloff said.
Dancers and mimes will provide entertainment.
Businesses and organizations with community missions will have tables at the carnival, and many of them will be putting on fun activities for children, Roloff said.
The carnival had been planned for September but was postponed because of the repaving project on Thor.
