Store Manager Beaten, Left For Dead In Robbery Teenage Part-Time Employees Arrested After Brutal Attack
A store manager was beaten and left for dead by two part-time employees during a robbery in Mattawa.
The male suspects, ages 16 and 17, were arrested without incident at a residence in the Grant County town of Mattawa about two hours after the heist was reported about 2:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
The victim, a 51-year-old Mattawa man, was treated at Sunnyside Community Hospital for cuts and bruises and released later in the day, police said. No names were given.
Police said the suspects entered the Mattawa Department Store on Thursday night and chatted with the manager.
The pair asked the victim if they could borrow his car, police said. When the victim refused, they beat him with fists and sticks.
They used a rope to choke the victim, who remained unconscious for several hours, police said.
The suspects allegedly stole cash of $12,000 to $14,000, firearms, stereo equipment and clothing, police said. They left in the victim’s vehicle.
Police said the store manager regained consciousness and alerted law officers.
