Programs For Women Plan Open House
Three nonprofit programs for women in crisis are each sponsoring an open house Sunday from 12:30-2:30 p.m.
Miryam’s House of Transition, 1805 W. Ninth, treats women trying to recover from homelessness, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol addiction. Social workers help the women become self-sufficient through education and life-skills training.
The Women’s Drop-in Center, 218 S. Howard, serves low-income women vulnerable because of drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence and poverty.
The Transitional Living Center (TLC), 3128 N. Hemlock, helps homeless mothers and their children with skills training, clothing, child care and home furnishings banks. The program can serve up to 45 women and children.
TLC is not the transitional living program run by Volunteers of America, which closed Oct. 1.
