Personal: age 67 … 32 years as an educator … married, 10 children … enjoys woodworking, RV travel, reading … has lived in community almost 40 years … served on school board 11 years.

Education: Master’s of education administration and bachelor’s in education, Gonzaga University … favorite class, English … least favorite, math … Recently finished book: “Undaunted Courage,” a biography of Meriwether Lewis.

Issues: “Without question, the top issue would have to be implementation of the state essential learnings.”

Accomplishments: Overseeing the development of a healthy budget with a reserve … passing the 1996 school bond, which added classrooms to the district’s four elementary schools … putting the district’s strategic plan in place.

If I were king for a day: “I strongly believe students ought to have the opportunity to progress as fast as they master the material … I don’t believe that seat time should be the criterion.”
