Susan Wentz

East Valley School Board, challenger, Position No. 4

Personal: Age 48 … Real estate agent, former shop owner and H&R Block employee … has lived 20 years in the community … married, five children … interested in travel … served on the Spokane County Library District board.

Education: one year at EWU, real estate classes, H&R Block training … favorite classes: math, English and history … least favorite: physical education … reads “mysteries, biographies and people stuff,” but only from December to April, when business slows down.

Issues: It’s time for a change. “Any organization gets stagnant. It’s time for new ideas. … I’m available. People can call me any time.” School board openings should be advertised more openly, so that more community members would know when the filing periods are. “Being on the school board should be easier to run for.”

Accomplishment: “My kids are my accomplishments.”

If I were king for a day: “I’d have open classrooms where the parents wouldn’t have to check in at the front door.”
