Selkirk Takes Panomara Title

Selkirk opened the 1997 football season 0-3, running its record to 2-28 since 1994.

One month later, the Rangers are on a four-game winning streak and proud owners of the title “Panorama League Champions.”

Tim Farris rushed for 201 yards on 21 carries Friday to lead the Rangers (4-3, 4-0) to a 27-0 win over visiting Republic (4-3, 3-1) at Ione.

Selkirk increased its shut-out streak to 14 quarters. The Rangers rushed for 280 yards and Cody Carlson passed for 132.

The Tigers’ Chad Dinkins completed 14 of 32 for 179 yards.

Scott Kramer passed 41 yards to Paul Dart to the Falcons 4-yard line, and Joel Hardung scored on the next play as the visiting Tigers (5-2, 3-2) edged S-H (1-6, 0-5) in the final 90 seconds at Sprague.

Hardung rushed for 124 yards and Kramer was 21 of 33 for 166 yards and four interceptions. Matt Henry and Matt Wagner of the Falcons combined for 10 receptions and 119 yards.
