NEW FACES:

The Spokane office of New York Life Insurance Co. has added the following employees to its staff:

Ted Anderson, who was formerly an agent, trainer and manager for another insurance company, joined New York Life as sales manager. Before entering the insurance business, Anderson was general manager of a local manufacturing company.

Carri Castle, who was formerly a surgical technician, was hired as a sales associate.

Jay Suko has joined American Electronic Sign as Western regional sales manager in the company’s Commercial Division. Suko has seven years of experience in sales and advertising.

Lilac City Decorators Inc. has hired Sandy Kates as its sales and marketing representative for the Inland Northwest. Kates has a strong background in hotel convention sales and marketing, including work in Honolulu, Las Vegas and Seattle.

New additions to the staff of the Girl Scouts Inland Empire Council include:

Andrea VanSteenkist was named fund-raising events coordinator. VanSteenkist was previously with the marketing department of Spokane Teachers’ Credit Union, and also worked for the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce. She is an Eastern Washington University graduate.

Geri Proctor joined the council as community relations coordinator. Proctor, also an EWU graduate, was formerly the marketing coordinator with the Paine, Hamblen, Coffin, Brooke and Miller LLP law firm.

Dakotah Direct Inc. has hired Jodi Van Voorhis as director of training, quality assurance and edits. Van Voorhis previously worked for RWS Enterprises.

Windermere Real Estate has added seven new associates to its North Wall Street and East Sprague offices:

Carol Moon, sales associate, has practiced real estate for five years with Crowley Realty/Better Homes & Gardens. Moon joins the North Wall office.

Jody Welling, associate broker, has three years of real estate experience, most recently with Re/Max Citywide. Welling joins the North Wall office.

Zandi Spicer, sales associate, rejoins the North Wall office after a hiatus from real estate. Spicer first joined Windermere in 1989.

Milly Tyree, sales associate, enters real estate after two years in the jewelry business. Tyree joins the North Wall office.

Tim Todd, sales associate, joins the North Wall office. Todd, who is new to real estate, spent nine years in the fishing industry in Alaska.

Barry Cross enters real estate after working with IBM Corp. for 12 years. Cross will join the East Sprague office.

Craig Krahn enters real estate after 14 years as an electrical lineman. Krahn will work out of the East Sprague office.

MOVING UP:

Dakotah Direct Inc. has promoted Claudia Allen to account manager. Allen, who has been with the company for more than three years, was previously a personnel scheduler and a team leader.

Two employees of Tomlinson Black Real Estate have received promotions:

Chris Jury was named office manager for both the commercial and property management companies. Jury also will handle human resource responsibilities for those companies.

Tammy Erickson will be the executive assistant for David Black. She retains her responsibilities as portfolio accountant.

Mike Eichorn has been promoted to regional vice president at Primerica Financial Services, a subsidiary of Travelers Group.

Washington Trust Bank has promoted Kathleen Wood to mortgage loan officer at the bank’s Spokane Home Loan Center. Wood, who has more than 12 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry, has been with the bank since 1995.

Dr. Mary Krempasky Smith was installed as the 1997-1998 vice-president of the Washington State Dental Association. Smith, who is a past president of the Spokane District Dental Society, has served for four years on the WSDA executive council and as a delegate to the American Dental Association.

Dr. John Gollhofer, a Spokane obstetrician and gynecologist, has been elected first vice president of the Washington State Medical Association.

CERTIFICATIONS:

The following members of the Spokane Chapter of the Northwest Human Resource Management Association have been certified in their field: Connie Bantz, David Brown, Monika Fox and James Hose, all senior professionals in human resources; Jennifer Dunham, Ev Hopkins, Julie Love, Don Killikan, Charlotte Nemec, and Jerome Voigt, all professionals in human resource.

Daniel Horton has been recognized by Ford Motor Co. as an engine master technician. He qualified for masters recognition by successfully completing all required training courses conducted by Ford for the engine curriculum.

A financial advisor with American Express Financial, Carole Folsom, has become an accredited asset management specialist.

KUDOS:

The Masonry Industry Promotion Group of Spokane announced its 1997 Robert Fraser Masonry Design Awards for excellence in the design and use of Masonry. First place: Mount Spokane-Mead High School; architect, Northwest Architectural Co.; structural engineer, Structural Design Northwest; mason contractor, Johnson Masonry. Second place: Cyan Corporate Offices, architect, Architectural Concepts; structural engineer, John Tunnison; mason contractor, Spilker Masonry.

Wells Fargo Bank has honored Spokane residents Tom Beil and Sandy Godley with the semi-annual Silver Spur Award. This award, given by the Northwest Commercial Banking Group, recognizes employees who have demonstrated exceptional service to their customers or co-workers.
