Knight Resigns As Director Of Arts Panel
Margot Knight has resigned as executive director of the Idaho Commission on the Arts after seven years with the state agency.
“With 10 new members since 1995, the commission is a new one and deserves new leadership,” Knight said Tuesday.
Her last day will be Nov. 7. Current staff member Julie Numbers Smith will serve as interim director.
During Knight’s tenure, Idaho’s arts appropriations rose 25 percent between fiscal 1991 and fiscal 1998, despite a 21 percent cut two years ago in funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
She will do consulting work, including serving as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts. She does not know if she will stay in Idaho.
