Michaels Nears Completion Of New Store Plans
Michaels Art and Crafts is finalizing plans to open a North Side store on Division Street.
A spokeswoman in the real estate department at Michaels, based in Dallas, said more details should be available at the end of the year.
Michaels opened near Trent Avenue in 1994, after the company bought the Treasure House chain of craft stores.
Michaels owns about 500 stores around the country, including Aaron Brothers Framing and Fine Art.
Michaels offers a variety of craft supplies, art classes, custom framing, floral design and wedding supplies.
Kristina Guidinger, store manager, said the Michaels on Trent will move next year, probably closer to the Spokane Valley.
New pet store at Y
Breeder’s Choice Pets, owned by Don and Sue Bauman, is now open at the Division Street Y.
They offer a selection of dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters and parakeets. They also stock food, supplies and pet gifts.
“Our upper mezzanine is all birds, it’s really something to see,” said Sue Baumann. The Baumann’s live in Green Bluff.
The pet shop opened Oct. 13 at 9304 N. Divsion. The Baumann’s are planning a grand opening in mid-November.
The store is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Equipment store moves
Country Homes Power Equipment has moved a few blocks south, from 9114 N. Newport Highway to 8108 N. Division.
Grand opening at Circuit City
Circuit City, the giant electronics retailer, is holding a grand opening Friday at 7701 N. Division. Circuit City sells computers, audio and video electronics and home appliances. The company operates 512 stores nationwide and is based in Richmond, Va.
Circuit City in the Spokane Valley, just east of the Spokane Valley Mall, is also holding its grand opening Friday.
