Gunshots Fired At Buildings Near Schools Students Held Over 25 Minutes While Police Investigate; Banks May Have Been Targets
Gunshots were fired from a van at a north Spokane shopping center Thursday, forcing lock-downs at four schools, police said.
No one was injured when shots were fired from the van at about 3 p.m. at Shadle Center, on the corner of Wellesley and Alberta, police said.
Students at St. George’s School, Glover and Salk middle schools and Shadle Park High School were held over about 25 minutes as a precaution while police investigated the shopping center.
The gunshots shattered windows at U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo Bank at the shopping center. Police spokesman Dick Cottam said it was not clear if the shots were directed at the banks, which were open for business.
Police have no description of the van.
No money was taken from either bank branch.
