Police Nab Suspect In Sandwich Shop Robbery
A gunman picked the wrong time to hold up a downtown sandwich shop.
Employees told police a man walked into the Subway restaurant at 24 W. Third at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday, pulled out a gun and demanded cash.
Unfortunately for him, a police officer had just pulled into the parking lot and another was nearby when a Subway employee reported the robbery.
The officers saw a man, later identified as Francis T. Harris of Airway Heights, running away from the restaurant. They followed him to the Merlin Apartments, 29 W. Second, and arrested him.
Harris, 26, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery. Police recovered the money taken in the heist.
