Airport Traffic Below Record 1996 Levels

Passenger traffic at Spokane International Airport in July continued its retreat from last year’s record levels.

During July, 286,110 passengers got on or off planes, compared with 303,728 a year ago. For the first seven months of the year, 8 percent fewer passengers have passed through the airport than during the first seven months of 1996.

Air cargo activity also was down during July. Air cargo tonnage was 5 percent lower than in July 1996. For the first seven months of the year, though, air cargo is up 8 percent over 1996.

Freight at Felts Field Airport was down by 64 percent during the month of July, and was off 45 percent for the first seven months of the year.
