2 Bodies Found; Train Kills 2

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two bodies were found along Washington 14, and two other people were struck and killed by a freight train Wednesday in apparently unrelated incidents, Skamania County sheriff’s deputies said.

Washington State Patrol officers were assisting in the investigation of the bodies found along the highway, dispatchers in Vancouver said. No other details were immediately available.

Shortly after that discovery, a woman and child were struck and killed by a freight train bound for Portland from Minneapolis, said Gus Melonas, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad spokesman in Seattle.

Initial reports indicated the two, whose names were not immediately available, were trying to cross tracks used by 35 freight trains and two Amtrak passenger trains daily, Melonas said.
