New faces:

John Guin has joined the Spokane-based law firm of Winston & Cashatt. His practice will focus on construction law. Guin, who recently passed the Washington State Bar, is a 1996 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law where he was associate editor of the Oregon Law Review. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.

The Lilac City Gymnastics Center has hired Michelle Yates as its cheerleading coach. Yates will conduct classes in cheerleading and cheer-aerobatics for junior high, high school and collegiate squads and also individual squad members. She is a former scholarship member of the University of Idaho cheerleading squad and a former competitive gymnast.

T.A. Dorsey has joined Camp World of Cars as medium duty truck manager. Dorsey previously was with Becker GMC as truck manager.

Jana Bayless and Sunny Van Cleave have joined Drezden International Modeling Agency & Hair Salon. Bayless is a hair stylist with nine years of experience. Van Cleave, a hair stylist and nail technician, has five years of experience.

The Spokane Chiefs Hockey Club has added six employees to its front office:

Eddie Wood was named director of public relations. Wood, a 1996 Gonzaga University graduate, was previously with KREM television as a computer graphics operator and commercial production assistant. He is in his third year as color commentator for Spokane American Legion Baseball.

Matt Brown joined the club as GSL broadcaster and account executive. Brown, a graduate of Gonzaga University, previously worked with KREM, Northwest Cable News and 1510 KGA radio. He also is in his third year of play-by-play for Spokane American Legion Baseball.

Rick Barr was named sponsorship sales executive for the Chiefs. Barr, who graduated from the University of Arizona, was previously an account executive with the Spokane Indians.

Ann Brueggemeier was hired as special projects coordinator/group sales for the Chiefs and Spokane Shadow. A Whitworth College graduate, Brueggemeier previously worked for Lawton Publications, Spokane Area Children’s Chorus and the Whitworth Theatre Department.

Mike Miller has joined the Chiefs’ Ticket Department. Miller’s past work experience includes stints with Global Television Sports as a assistant event director and the University of Detroit as a ticketing assistant. He has a master’s degree in sports management from Georgia State University.

Jim Peterson was named an account executive. Peterson has previously worked in sales and service for Cintas Corp. in California and most recently as a store manager for Kustom Built. He graduated from Eastern Washington University.

Potlach Corp. has named Michael Sullivan as director of corporate communications. Sullivan, a 30-year veteran of the forest products industry, has been communications manager for the company’s Idaho regional operations for the past eight and half years. He will be responsible for corporate media relations and employee communications, speech writing, the company’s annual report and other corporate communications functions.

Moving up:

Hayden Davis has been promoted to assistant branch manager of Lumberman’s Building Centers’ Spokane store. Davis, who joined the company in 1991, was previously the store supervisor in Vancouver, Wash.

Starting up:

The Valley office of LeMaster & Daniels PLLC has opened a satellite office in Olympia and named David Burnett as manager of the new office. Burnett, a C.P.A., worked in the auditing and accounting department at LeMaster & Daniels from 1986 to 1990, when he left to become comptroller and administrative director of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of Indians. He later became executive director of the Squaxin Island Tribe.

Spokane-based Johnson Matthey Electronics has launched a Web site at http://www.jmei.com. The site includes 145 pages of information about JME and its four major product groups.

John and Kathy Van Houdt have opened SoundLogic at 2003 N. Monroe. The new sound and music production studio is designed specifically for radio production, jingles, sound design for television and multimedia. John has worked in pro-audio studios for 10 years and in broadcast audio for six. Kathy has run small antique businesses.

Ted Hatcher has opened Davenport Feed and Farm in Davenport, Wash. Besides feed, the store offers show supplies for most livestock animals as well as many farm supplies and tack. It is located in the old Publisher’s Building, 835 Morgan Street in Davenport.

Certifications:

Jennifer Dunham, Western region human resource specialist for Software Spectrum Inc., has earned certification as a Professional in Human Resources. Applicants for certification must pass a comprehensive examination and have at least four years of professional experience or a combination of professional experience and education. Dunham was previously the director of human resources for the Red Lion Hotel in Wenatchee.

Kudos:

Robideaux Advertising and Marketing has earned national recognition in the 18th Annual Telly Awards Competition. Two 30-second Group Health Northwest television commercials, written and directed by Robideaux and produced at Hamilton Film Studio, were declared a winner and a finalist in the health care category.
