Jones Has Slim Lead In Canadian Open
Steve Jones splashed his way to a par on the last hole Saturday in Montreal to take a one-stroke lead in the Canadian Open over an emotional Greg Norman, who wore all black to honor the memory of Princess Diana.
Four players were another stroke back and British Open champion Justin Leonard, who finished the third round with three consecutive bogeys, was three strokes off the lead.
Jones had a 4-under 206 total.
Safeway Championship
Shani Waugh, one of three Australians to successfully navigate the slick, sun-baked greens in the LPGA Safeway Championship in Portland, shot a 3-under-par 69 to take the second-round lead.
Fellow Australian Karrie Webb was a stroke back at 7-under par after a 2-under 70. England’s Lisa Hackney also was 7-under after a 69. Rathdrum’s Tracy Hanson and Clarkston’s Robin Walton missed the cut.

Al Geiberger, winless on the Senior PGA Tour in 19 months, shot a 5-under-par 67 to take the second-round lead in the $800,000 Bank One Classic at Kearney Hill Links in Lexington, Ky.
European Masters
Nick Faldo shot a 3-under-par 68 and took a one-stroke lead in the European Masters in Crans-Sur-Sierre, Switzerland.
