Minnesota Overturns WSU 3-2

Reserve Megan Johnson broke a 2-2 tie with a goal in the 70th minute to lift 25th-ranked Minnesota (4-0-0) past Washington State 3-2 in a non-conference women’s soccer match at Minneapolis.

WSU (1-2-0) got both its goals in the second half from junior forward Amy Chippendale.

Stacy Forslund had a goal and an assist as the University of Montana shut out Gonzaga 4-0 at Missoula.

Men’s soccer

Ken Thompson scored on a free kick at 92:58 in sudden-death overtime, giving Gonzaga (3-0) a 2-1 victory over Cal State Northridge (0-3) at the UNLV Coors Light Invitational at Las Vegas.

Golf

Steve Prugh of Manito Golf and Country Club shared ninth place with a 2-under par 70 in pro play at the Pozzi Windows Pro-Am at Bend, Ore.

The Pacific Northwest Golf Association section championships begin today.
