Fair Attendance Down 9 Percent
Halfway through the Spokane Interstate Fair, attendance is down 9 percent compared to last year.
As of Tuesday night, 132,000 people had visited the fair. At the same time last year, 145,000 folks had passed through the turnstiles.
Though the weather is better this year than last, there are fewer big-name performers to attract people, said Joe Polello, a fair spokesman.
“The budget simply said you couldn’t have big-name entertainment all week long,” Polello said.
Gate receipts as of Tuesday night were $387,403 - down 18.5 percent from last year’s $475,409.
