There are some golden opportunities to overlay form tonight, matching past performances from other tracks and other kinds of company against local stock.

For example, American Cadillac, in the second race, held his own in starter allowance company at Great Falls, a meet that has produced several generously priced winners in the first month of local action. Can Saam II, who ran with high-class Arabians at Colorado’s Arapahoe Park, finally win a maiden race, even though he’s 0 for 29? What about Winburnt, with good lines from lightly regarded Desert Park and Sun Downs on his resume?

Finally, decent form at Emerald Downs usually beats comparable numbers at Playfair. On those grounds, Play’in Tough should beat an excellent field - Black Bo won at Boise and Elma’s Harbor Park - in the fifth.

Here are today’s selections: FIRST: $10 to win on FS DESERT WIND and $5 doubles pairing him with AMERICAN CADILLAC, GRAY GUY and PLUNDER ROAD in the second ($15).

THIRD: $10 to win on WINBURNT. Divide any winnings between FAR AND BEYOND in the sixth race and KNIGHT IN KAPOWSIN in the seventh.

FIFTH: $10 to win on PLAY’IN TOUGH and $5 exactas with BLACK BO and SPOKANE CHARLIE ($10).

Original bankroll: $2,000.

Friday’s result: Won $32.70.

Present bankroll: $1,880.90.
